Sunday 5 April: Trust @ New Guernica

Melbourne is full of exceptional events and crews right now, all delivering high-quality productions and promoting home-grown talent over international imports. This is becoming more and more apparent in the field of techno now.

I mean, I’ve always said it makes sense for promoters to give their money (and less of it) to locals in order to keep their money in Australia, to improve their own community and fanbase, and to build strong Australian names for export.

Trust (ed. not to be confused with the weekly Tuesday night bass music brand concocted by Baddums) are a crew who adopt the slogan “Think Globally, Act Locally” to their advantage. They have a solid line-up for this Easter Weekend, set to be a packed house over three dancefloors at New Guernica.

Headlining this event musically are Thankyou City, who have developed a reputation in Melbourne and beyond for bringing a top notch set to the dancefloor, playing memorable sets at Rainbow Serpent, Strawberry Fields, and also at festivals internationally in Germany, UK, the States and Denmark.

Supporting them and not understated are local heavyweight producers Timmus, Silversix and Moodmachine, who also maintain solid reps for getting the booty sweat dripping at parties. They’ll be joined by the usual assortment of techno club DJs from crews like Doesn T Matter, Revolver and Trust.

Vibe and space will be carried and maintained by Pelican Villa in New Guernica’s outhouse. They have created legendary chill zones at such festivals as Rainbow Serpent, where many crews flex their decor muscles.
