This is about the coolest thing I have seen for a while now. If you’re sniggering under your flat-brimmed hat cocked to the side, go sit in the corner while we chuck your hip-hop records at you, punk.
This guy’s name is cTrix and he – along with seven other of chiptune Australia’s finest will – be rocking out for the love of raw blocks of electronic sound. Sydney guest Abortifacient is sort of a big thing in chip, he’s got nearly a thousand fans on Soundcloud and has played at Tokyo’s Blip Festival.
Joining him and cTrix are Biko, little-scale, Dot-AY, Cavalera, Tiaso, and not forgetting visual-swordswomanship by Chronic Sans (the taste in people she works with is impeccable).
This event happens to co-incide with PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) Australia, a game culture festival, so Soundbytes will serve as an after-party for this event for you gaming guys and girls out for a night on the town. The Soundbytes guys will also be appearing on a panel of experts during the PAX fest.
Much love to these guys, it’s so good that some people can have so much fun in electronic music. Shout-outs to Kristy Dossor for organising this one. And you honestly HAVE to check out the links below, they’re so cool.
Friday 26 July 2013, Starts 8pm, The Evelyn Hotel, 351 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. $15.
