Psytrance parties have been represented well at new Northcote nightclub Level 2, as of late. This latest offering by trance crew Foolproof is in conjunction with Kinematic Records, who are releasing their first compilation.
The compiler of this release is none other than Felix Greenlees aka Terrafractyl, already legendary in the Australian outdoor party scene for his full and emotionally charged sets. Greenlees will be headlining this event and also playing a set of his Hypnagog music, which I would still define as psytrance, but more downtempo.
Also performing is Algenon Renton, who will be playing a set of both his psytrance project and his solo glitch-hop project, Mustard Tiger. Renton is soon to launch an EP as part of the glitch-hop duo (along with James Hayes aka Shadow FX) Staunch at another party with Adapted Records later on in June.
Other acts over two rooms of psytrance and glitch-hop respectively include: Cheshire (also releasing an EP in June at the Adapted party), Ryanosaurus, San & Tac, and a host of other talented trancesmiths. Entry is $20 at the door, or $30 with a bonus copy of Kinematic Records V/A release Fluid Mechanics.
Friday 7 June 2013, 10pm-5am, 2 Arthurton Road, Northcote.
