Okay, I’m stumped. Can someone please tell me why we’re putting on events in Australia for a festival in EUROPE? Don’t we have any pride as Australians? This is a nationalist point of view, but it’s valid.
Anyway, this “launch” (why do we have so many launches these days?) is happening in Melbourne, but it’s not so stupid if you just take “Outlook Festival Launch” out of the title and leave “Party” there. I’m just going to pretend Outlook isn’t there for the purpose of not advertising it. Whoops, I did already.
MELBOURNE drum and bass crew Broken Beat Assault are presenting this night, and they’re a really cool crew, definite leaders in their field. It’s probably a smart thing for them to attach foreign festivals to their crew name, so as they can get guys like Youngsta to headline for them.
Youngsta comes from the real and classical guard of UK dubstep that is (mostly) unsullied in nature, maintaining enough space and deep dubs within the sound texture for it to be called “real” dubstep.
Other headliners include Dub FX (live), Sabre, Safire and 3rdeye (highly recommended tunes originating from Byron Bay). There’s also going to be a load of other local drum and bass DJs from the BBA crew, as well as other bass music DJs from well-known local crews like Whomp!.
This party is at that stanky dirty alley that is brown. Tickets are $25 + BF.
Friday 7 June 2013, Starts 10pm, 585 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
